Dear Wonder Works Members and Friends,
On behalf of the Wonder Works Board of Directors, I am writing to inform you that our charismatic CEO, Rachel Rettberg, has accepted the Executive Director position at A House in Austin, a new local non-profit. Rachel has been with Wonder Works for eight years, first as a Board Member, and the last four as CEO. I would like to personally thank her for her tremendous contributions to the growth and progress at Wonder Works, and in particular, raising community awareness of Wonder Works’ important role in early childhood development, improving and expanding museum programming, training an incredibly dedicated staff, and expanding our development efforts. The Board and staff will certainly miss her but we know Rachel’s professional aspirations align with the mission at A House in Austin, which will now be an even greater community partner to Wonder Works. Please join us in wishing Rachel the best in her future position as she will no doubt be successful there. Rachel will continue as Wonder Works’ CEO until January 15th, 2019, and we are excited that she will serve as our Wonderivia emcee on February 23rd.
With the new year upon us, we are all excited to continue Wonder Works’ fantastic momentum. The Board of Directors just completed the process of and approved a three year Strategic Plan. The goal of the Strategic Plan is to create a stronger Wonder Works that will continue to grow. At this time, we will immediately begin a search for a new Executive Director that will be fully aligned with the goals of the Strategic Plan and Wonder Works’ new Vision: to be a community leader, inspiring ALL children and families to discover, understand, and learn about their world through play.
We are so grateful for the continued support from our members and community. We thank you for your dedication to the children’s museum. Stay tuned for more exciting events in 2019 and new happenings at Wonder Works!
