Nature and Science at Wonder Works
Nature and Science at Wonder Works is a hands-on science program for young children (ages 1 to 8), created and implemented by Wonder Works’ resident scientist and early learning specialist, Eric Gyllenhaal. Nature and Science at Wonder Works takes place Fridays from 10 am until noon and is covered by General Admission.
In addition to each week’s special Nature and Science program, the Nature Collector’s Swap Shop will be open for trading every Friday 10 AM to 4:30 PM. If you bring something natural from home to trade, you can trade for Swap Shop shells, polished rocks, crystals, fossils, and more. You can also earn trading points at the museum.
(Special Hours 10 AM to 4:30 PM) December 13: Collecting Nature (Holiday Edition)
At this special holiday edition of Collecting Nature, we will use objects from nature to make decorations for the holidays. You can also sift through the sandbox to find rocks and shells you can either keep or trade at the Nature Collector’s Swap Shop. You can collect and trade for yourself and get shells, rocks, and fossils to give as presents to your family and friends. We will have gift boxes, wrapping paper, and ribbons for the treasures you plan to give as presents.
(Special Hours 10 AM to 4:30 PM) December 20: Holiday Trains
At Holiday Trains, you can load tiny presents and holiday symbols on an O-scale electric train and then help decorate the wooden train layout for the holidays. There will be more trains than usual to play with, plus extra train layouts on both the Build It floor and the play dough table. You also can make a train-themed holiday decoration to take home.
The following events run weekly in December (excluding Winter Break, see above for Winter Break Schedule) and are included with general admission to the museum. Membership to Wonder Works gives you unlimited visits and unlimited access to all of these great activities.
