Light Lab

Playing with light is important STEM work for children. As children manipulate light sources and observe the effects, they develop problem-solving skills, spatial reasoning, and logical thinking. They learn about rainbows and colors all while marveling at the magic and complexity of light. Exploring light stimulates cognitive and sensory development, and also develops, the understanding of science concepts, fine motor skills, imagination, creativity and social/emotional interaction, expression and skills.
Children can dance through the light projected onto the wall, witnessing the prisms reproduced on their bodies and clothes.
The Litezilla giant peg board enables children to hone their fine motor skills while creating lit-up masterpieces. We are grateful to the Oak Park and River Forest Rotary Club for the generous donation which made the installation of the Litezilla giant peg board possible.
